After reviewing the three candidates for the office of 2nd Vice President for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, I find myself compelled to support and endorse Chief Paul Sullivan, Jr. for the position. I have personally known and worked alongside Chief Sullivan for almost 15 years. He is dedicated and committed to advancing the Maryland fire service. His passion is like no other and he brings a much needed flavor and perspective that is much needed by the MSFA leadership right now. He has a vision and the drive to engage and bring younger members to participate within the MSFA, something that the MSFA currently lacks and needs if it is going to be successful in the future. It is my opinion that Chief Sullivan will flourish and shine within this position and for these reasons, I am throwing my support behind Paul and endorse him for the Office of 2nd Vice President of the MSFA. I would like to personally announce my endorsement for Chief Paul Sullivan, Jr. for the Office of 2nd Vice President of the Maryland State Firemen's Association. His knowledge, skills, and abilities as a leader both operationally and administratively in many organizations both state and nationally will help move the fire service throughout our great state of Maryland into the future.

I have had the privilege of working with Chief Sullivan on local, state and national levels and his experiences has earned great respect and admiration from our colleagues. I have known Chief Paul Sullivan for almost 20 years. I have had the pleasure of watching him grow as not only a Fire Service Professional, but as a Safety Professional. His dedication and commitment to the Maryland Fire Service as a leader, safety professional and educator are paramount. When I learned that Paul was running for the position of Second Vice President for the MSFA there was no doubt in my mind that I would put my support behind him with an endorsement.

Over the years some might say that the MSFA has lost its focus and drive. I believe that introducing new and younger leadership will make it thrive again. Chief Sullivan has always been mission-driven and focused on his tasks. He has always entertained challenges and worked through them to get them accomplished. As a leader, Paul has always listened to others and has welcomed and embraced ideas and change. Simply put, he has always put the needs of the members and the organization before his own. Today, the MSFA needs this type of leadership if they are going to be viable and existent in the future. I have known Chief Sullivan for 20 years, and he’s committed to change, forwardness, and organizational performance. I hereby endorse Chief Paul Sullivan for the Office of 2nd Vice President with the Maryland State Firemen's Association, because I feel our organization needs change, and Paul has the ability to project this change and place us in a forward motion. As a third generation volunteer firefighter in the State of Maryland I have seen many changes good and bad, but I can assure you strong leadership has prevailed every time in getting volunteers the support we need to help us survive. I was Paul's Division Chief in Baltimore and his work ethic speaks for itself, along with his professionalism. This is why I support Paul for the Office of 2nd Vice President.

I have known Paul for over 15 years and he is extremely passionate about improving the fire service in the state of MD and the USA. I believe he would be a great asset to the management team of the MSFA. I would encourage everyone to support him and his initiatives as he moves through the chairs of the MSFA.

Paul has been a friend of mine for some time now. He is very knowledgeable and educated and will work tirelessly for all of us. As a member of the MFCA Auxiliary, and by attending various functions with my husband John (Director Emeritus, MFRI), I was in a position to view several of Paul Sullivan's accomplishments first-hand. My impressions led me to believe that Paul is deeply dedicated to the fire service and is action motivated to meet and resolve any issue that confronts him. He has experience and drive to succeed. Spanning three decades, Chief Paul Sullivan has been a proven leader in the Maryland Fire Service. Serving in multiple jurisdictions, in both volunteer and career positions, he is fully aware of the sociological differences and needs in the different regions yet understands the commonalities each has in providing professional response.

His experience in suppression, EMS, and rescue, blended with his dedication to training has helped organize department’s success, while prioritizing safety and leadership development. Paul not only knows how to lead, he knows how to empower and develop future leaders. He is a forward and innovative thinker who has the ability to blend deep seated traditions with modern, state of the art methods. His role as an MICRB educator keeps him in touch with the needs of new members, a trait essential to the future success of the Maryland Fire Service.
