I have known Paul Sullivan for much of his emergency services career. I have always admired the drive and emotion that he puts into each task that he is working on. I am certain that he will bring that same drive and emotion to the position of Second Vice President of the MSFA. He has already outlined a plan of programs and initiatives that he intends to work towards. That demonstrates that drive and emotion that clearly puts him above the other candidates. That’s why I am pledging my support to Paul Sullivan for Second Vice President of the MSFA and ask that you join me with your vote in June.

For the first time in nearly a decade, the MSFA has three candidates running for the Office of 2nd Vice President of the MSFA. This is good news as competition is healthy for our organization. With that said, it is important to review the qualifications of each candidate to see who will be best for the future of the organization.
When considering which candidate to support, I looked for the most qualified for the times; a well-qualified and well-informed candidate; one with a platform and vision for the future of the MSFA. More importantly, a candidate with priorities critical for the future of the MSFA.
For me, it was equally important to select a candidate that is actively involved in our day-to-day Fire, Rescue and EMS operations and one that also has administrative experience and skills.
With a majority of our runs being EMS, having an active candidate with an extensive EMS background is a significant plus for the MSFA leadership.
By far Chief Paul Sullivan, Jr. meets all of these needs. He is undeniably a proven leader who continues to actively serve at the local, state and national levels with honor and distinction. Chief Sullivan brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, skills and leadership to the table.
For all of these reasons, I am very pleased to express my support to the candidacy of Chief Paul Sullivan, Jr. for the Office of 2nd Vice President of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association (MSFA).

I am proud to endorse Paul Sullivan, Jr. for the office of Second Vice-President of the MSFA. I have known Paul since he became the training officer for the Maryland Fire Chiefs. He asked to become a member of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association website. This would allow him to post training opportunities directly so that our members would be up to date on training opportunities. He also would be getting announcement directly from the website so that he could keep up to date on anything happening in AA County. As the website manager, Paul is the only state officer to ever do this. His desire to make the Maryland State Fire Service the best it can be shows in his actions. That is why he is the best person to fill this position.
MICHAEL A. LeCOMPTE
CHAIRMAN , MSFA SAFETY COMMITTEE
WORCESTER COUNTY
I am excited to see more younger members seek the nomination of 2nd Vice President of the Maryland State Firemen's Association. To see you follow another young wonderful fire service instructor and leader, like 2nd Vice President - Chief Eric Smothers, will only make the MSFA more attractive to our prospective statewide young and educated fire leaders. The prosperity of the entire MSFA will only survive "down the road," if our statewide young departmental fire leaders "jump in now" and get involved soon, in every sector of the MSFA and the Maryland Fire Chief's Association.
As chairman of the MSFA Safety Committee; I can attest, that you have been a true asset and a "straight shooter" for the good of "MSFA-firefighter-safety," in so many aspects. You as a Certified Safety Professional, Fire Chief, and Paramedic, and your sincere knowledge about firefighter/EMS safety, has made us a real provider, offering many "action plans" to reduce losses, statewide. The Safety Committee membership does look at you for your knowledge in trying to control losses presented to us, throughout the years! You have always exhibited the highest degree of technical competency and intelligence, in problem-solving situations presented to us! As a safety professional myself, you offer uncompromising standards, with your extensive safety education and offer leadership skill, morality, and judicious aggressiveness, in preventing any firefighter from getting injured or killed.
Paul, your MSFA administrative growth potential seems vast and your past experience and positive motivation to help the statewide fire service reflects great credit on yourself, your local fire department, and the true future and tradition of service, that has always been offered by the Maryland State Firemen's Association. Good luck Sir in your endeavors!

After reviewing the three candidates for the office of 2nd Vice President for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, I find myself compelled to support and endorse Chief Paul Sullivan, Jr. for the position. I have personally known and worked alongside Chief Sullivan for almost 15 years. He is dedicated and committed to advancing the Maryland fire service. His passion is like no other and he brings a much needed flavor and perspective that is much needed by the MSFA leadership right now. He has a vision and the drive to engage and bring younger members to participate within the MSFA, something that the MSFA currently lacks and needs if it is going to be successful in the future. It is my opinion that Chief Sullivan will flourish and shine within this position and for these reasons, I am throwing my support behind Paul and endorse him for the Office of 2nd Vice President of the MSFA. Good luck my friend.

I have known Chief Paul Sullivan for almost 20 years. I have had the pleasure of watching him grow as not only a Fire Service Professional, but as a Safety Professional. His dedication and commitment to the Maryland Fire Service as a leader, safety professional and educator are paramount. When I learned that Paul was running for the position of Second Vice President for the MSFA there was no doubt in my mind that I would put my support behind him with an endorsement.
Over the years some might say that the MSFA has lost its focus and drive. I believe that introducing new and younger leadership will make it thrive again. Chief Sullivan has always been mission-driven and focused on his tasks. He has always entertained challenges and worked through them to get them accomplished. As a leader, Paul has always listened to others and has welcomed and embraced ideas and change. Simply put, he has always put the needs of the members and the organization before his own. Today, the MSFA needs this type of leadership if they are going to be viable and existent in the future. For these reasons, Paul, I support you and endorse your candidacy for Second Vice President of the MSFA. I look forward to the good things that will come from you. Good luck!!
